I just wanted to watch my subscriptions — in order, without the noise.
YouTube buried the one thing I actually opened it for: a plain, chronological list of what the channels I follow just posted. Better Watch Later is my attempt to get that back — a calm, algorithm-free way to keep up with new uploads and build a watch-later list that stays out of my way.
A Watch Later without the junk
I wanted a watch-later list that isn't padded out with live streams and Shorts. Live and premiere placeholders are kept out of the feed, and you can hide Shorts entirely by setting a minimum video length on the Preferences page.
Pure chronological order
Just the videos my subscribed channels actually published, newest first. No “recommended for you,” no resurfaced week-old uploads — a clean timeline I can scroll and trust.
Because the Subscriptions page got unusable
YouTube turned its own Subscriptions page into one more recommendation engine. I just wanted the simple reverse-chronological list it used to be — the channels I chose, and nothing I didn't.
A watch-later, minus the distractions
Add things to watch later and manage that list without autoplay, walls of suggestions, or anything else trying to pull me somewhere I didn't mean to go.
One honest limitation
YouTube's API won't let any app touch your real Watch Later playlist, or even tell whether you've already watched a video. So Better Watch Later uses an ordinary custom playlist as a stand-in and does the best it can within those limits.
It isn't perfect — but for actually keeping up with my subscriptions, I think it's a better experience. Maybe you'll think so too.
